HeadsUp@Howell’s October 2019

The mental and emotional health and wellbeing of students and staff has been at the heart of our activities in HeadsUp@Howell’s week. There has been an array of events and activities taking place encouraging our school community to make time for wellbeing and self-care. Highlights include:

· Our Kindness Champions helping students to write positive messages to others.
· Creative colouring in the art department.
· Years 10 & 11 Young Minds #HelloYellow event
· The mindfulness Big Sit for Year 8 with Mr Biebrach
. Board games, Not Bored Games, in the Maths rooms
· A poetry chill in the library with Mrs Persson.
· Planting blooming baskets and spring bulbs in the Friendship Garden.
· Puzzle time in the support room.

It has been wonderful to see students enjoying social time with each other, revisiting mindful strategies, taking part in sports and musical activities as well as taking a break from their devices. Well done to everyone who has taken time to recognise the importance of wellbeing in what is an increasingly busy and crowded life. Many thanks to Mrs Chyba for all she has done to make the week such a success.
